¨ Emory Heights/Emory Hills — April 18th
East end of Oak Ridge between Emory Valley Road and Oak Ridge Turnpike. Maps handed out at corner of Dayton and Fairbanks. Look for the Garage Sale signs.
¨ Briarcliff Subdivision — April 25th
Melton Lake Drive or Lafayette Drive to Emory Valley Road to Briarcliff. Maps handed out at corner of Briarcliff and Donner. Look for the Garage Sale signs.
¨ Rivers Run—May 2nd
Take Edgemoor Road or the Oak Ridge Turnpike to Melton Lake Drive and look for the Garage Sale signs.
What started as a neighborhood activity has become a tradition in several Oak Ridge neighborhoods and among area bargain hunters. Now in its 14th year, the Neighborhood Garage Sales sponsored by Peggy Sells Homes-Realty Center draw hundreds of shoppers to each of the participating neighborhoods: Emory Hills/Emory Heights, Briarcliff and Rivers Run.
Each week 180 maps showing the location of each participating house are handed out to shoppers as they enter the neighborhood on the day of the sale. Normally there are 25 to 35 homes participating in each neighborhood although one year 53 homes participated in one neighborhood at one time.
The 2009 sales season kicks off with the special bonus sale of $100,000 in DESIGNER MODEL HOME FURNITURE and accessories on Saturday, April 4th in Rarity Ridge on the western edge of Oak Ridge.
Then this year’s Neighborhood Garage Sales begin on April 18th in the Emory Heights/Emory Hills neighborhood, followed by Briarcliff on Saturday the 25th and finally Rivers Run on Saturday, May 2nd.
Peggy, who places ads in the local newspapers, in her real estate ads and on the Internet, provides the garage sale signs to the participating homes and directional arrows on the corners.
